Louisiana Opal with Amethyst pendant

$275.00

Louisiana opal is among the rarest opal varieties in the world. It was mined in Vernon Parish until the early 1990s, but only in small quantities before the mine closed.

The opal is formed within the sandy substrates beneath the pine forests of the region. It is a type of sandstone known for its unique play of colors under sunlight. A notable 10-carat specimen exudes an electric purple hue, enhanced by the amethyst flower at its center, which complements the opal's color play.

Many hold the belief that opals can absorb and reflect the thoughts and feelings of the wearer, amplifying and returning them. Opals are also thought to bring mental clarity, aid in recovery from traumatic experiences, boost confidence and creativity, and encourage authenticity.

Amethyst is often attributed with similar properties.

Measuring slightly over 1.30 inches in height and nearly an inch in width, this opal, adorned with an amethyst floral design, is a stunning piece that hangs on an 18-inch sterling silver rolo chain.
